NCCU School of Law would like to congratulate Alicia Dawn Williams, Esq. (Class of 2011) on her latest accomplishment: passing the patent bar examination administered by the United States Patent and Trademark Organization (USPTO). While a student at NCCU School of Law, Ms. Williams was a Senior Editor on the NCCU Law Review and the Vice President of the Moot Court Board. After becoming licensed in the state of North Carolina, Ms. Williams obtained her LL.M. in Taxation from NYU School of Law. Subsequently, Ms. Williams passed the New York bar exam and worked as an associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions group with a Big Four accounting firm. Ms. Williams is currently a board member of the Jazz Collective, Inc., a non-profit corporation. A patent attorney with a keen interest in biotechnology, Ms. Williams prides herself on being non-traditional. According to Ms. Williams, “Being non-traditional is something in which you should take great pride. No one has ever broken down barriers and opened up doors while taking a traditional route. What’s important is not how you arrive at your destination, but what you do when you get there.”
